The Sigourney Savage girls and Keota Eagle boys continued their outstanding basketball seasons by winning their halves of the rivalry showdown last night in Keota. The Sigourney girls used a 15-0 run in the second quarter to pull away from Keota, building a 32-9 lead by halftime and going on to win 60-18. The Savages win their 11th straight to improve to 10-4 in the South Iowa Cedar League and 17-4 overall, while the Eagles drop to 2-12 in conference action and 3-17 in total.
The Keota boys remained undefeated this season by jumping out to a 16-5 lead in the first period and going up by 19 by the half. The sixth-ranked team in Class 1A used a 23-7 run in the third quarter, as the Eagles went on to beat Sigourney 75-23 and move to 21-0. Meanwhile, the Savages fall to 10-7 in league play and 13-7 overall.
