The Washington Demons suffered a defeat in their final girls’ basketball game of the regular season last night, losing 69-36 at Burlington. Washington hung tough early, hitting four three-point shots in the first quarter to only trail 21-17. The Demons would be down nine at halftime, but Burlington exploded for a 26-2 run in the third period to seize control.

Junior Lauren Hinrichsen scored 12 points to lead the team, but Washington falls to 8-12 overall and finishes Southeast Conference play with a record of 5-5. The Demons will now prepare for the postseason, which starts Saturday night when they host Davis County in the Class 3A Region 7 quarterfinals.
