Two Southeast Iowa Super Conference teams will be trying to survive and advance in the high school boys’ basketball postseason tomorrow night. The Highland Huskies will be one of those squads as they welcome Cedar Valley Christian to Riverside tomorrow in the preliminary round of the Class 1A Substate 3 tournament.
Highland is 2-18 this season and has been led by senior forward Nic Oriano, who is averaging nearly eight-and-a-half points, six rebounds and one blocked shot per game.
The Columbus Wildcats will also try to get past prelims this evening when they travel to take on New London in Class 1A Substate 5. While Columbus is 4-17, senior Tim Hills-Carrier has put together a big season by posting over 17.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, three assists and two steals per contest.
The Wildcats came up just short in their last meeting with New London and will try to bounce back from the 57-46 defeat they took Saturday against the Tigers, who are 4-16. Columbus and Highland will hit the court starting tomorrow evening at 7 o’clock.
