The Washington Demons will try to end conference play with a boys’ basketball victory when they travel to face Burlington tonight on KCII. Washington is in the midst of a five-game losing streak that has dropped their record to 6-11 overall, including a 4-5 mark in the Southeast Conference.
The Demons have continued to score the ball well, as junior Logan McDole is averaging just under 13 points per game and sophomore Drew Conrad is only one point a game behind that pace, with both hitting over 40 percent of their shot attempts.
Freshman Nic Stone has also proven to be an offensive force off the bench, knocking down a conference-best 41 three-point shots and scoring over nine points per contest over the last 10 games. But it hasn’t translated into winning of late, and Washington head coach Collin Stark tells KCII Sports his team just needs to keep the faith that things will turn around.
“How are we going to continue to use these [games] as teaching points and learn and grow from them? Making sure that we stick together as a group,” Stark says. “At some point, we’re going to have one go our way, and hopefully that will give us the confidence we need in the playoffs.”
The Demons will take on a Burlington team that has just three total wins this season, but one of those was a 72-58 victory in Washington on January 5th. You can hear all the action as the Demons duel with the Greyhounds this evening on 106.1 FM KCII and streaming on the KCII app and KCIIradio.com, starting with the Countdown to Tip-Off at 7 o’clock.
