A pair of Super Conference teams met in Lone Tree last night to kick off postseason action on KCII. When the dust settled, it was the Lady Lions defeating Winfield-Mt. Union in convincing fashion, 73-14.

Having lost their previous two games entering the playoffs, Lone Tree made its intentions clear from the jump. Not only did the offense explode for 29 in the opening quarter, but a defense that has been stout all season held the Wolves scoreless. While Winfield-Mt. Union got on the board in the second, the lead grew for the Lady Lions, who went into the break up 38. Suttyn Schlee hit a three out of the gate in the third for the Wolves, but the deficit proved to be insurmountable thanks to more relentless defense from Lone Tree plus a running clock the whole second half. WMU wraps up the 2023-24 campaign with a 4-15 overall record.

The Lions improved to 19-3 behind a game-high 17 from Finley Jacque. Alyson Ford and Avery Lisk joined her in double-figures. Lone Tree advances to the regional quarterfinals next Tuesday where they will host the winner of Burlington Notre Dame and Danville.
