A pair of KCII Area teams take the court Monday in the opening round of the Class 1A boys district basketball tournament when the Hillcrest Academy Ravens host the Lone Tree Lions. Hillcrest comes in with a 14-7 overall record this year, finishing 10-5, third place in the North Division of the Southeast Iowa Superconference. They were 75-42 winners last week over Columbus, led by 21 points from Seth Ours. On the season, the Ravens score 55 points per game and give up 45, shooting 45% from the floor, 37% from three and 62% at the line with 25 rebounds, 16 assists, 10 steals and 13 turnovers per game. Individually, Ours is the leader with 17 points per night. Mason Bender grabs five boards per game and Rowan Miller averages five assists and two steals.

Lone Tree is 6-15 on the year, wrapping up the regular season at 3-13, eighth in the North Division of the Superconference. They were beaten last time out 63-38 by Winfield-Mt. Union despite 16 points from Emmett Burke. This season, the Lions score 55 points per game and give up 62, shooting 42% from the floor, 29% from three and 61% at the line with 26 rebounds, 10 assists, nine steals and 18 turnovers per game. Individual leaders include, Burke at 14 points, four assists and three steals per game. Pietro Setti has a team best six boards per night. These two teams met twice during the regular season with the Ravens winning each by 75-57 and 67-50 scores. Overall, Hillcrest has won seven straight over the rival Lions.
