A season to remember for Lone Tree girls basketball came to a close last night as the Lady Lions were bested by Danville 71-36.

The Bears did to Lone Tree what the Lady Lions had done to so many opponents this season, and that’s get up to an early lead, then apply commanding pressure in transition. The backcourt press caused fits for Lone Tree in the first half, and a team with the second most shots in 1A entered the second quarter with just two field goals. While the offense fared better in the second, Danville was able to extend its lead to 15 by halftime. Any hope for the Lions to storm back were quickly dashed in a 27-7 third quarter. With a running clock for the entire final frame, the Bears rolled to their second playoff victory and 18th win overall. Led by Rylee Morris with 16 and three others in double figures, Danville travels to Lynville-Sully on Friday.

Finley Jacque’s 10 points were tops for Lone Tree in the loss, who finishes out the 23-24 campaign with a Super Conference Championship and the second most wins in program history at 19. The Lions say goodbye to seniors Avery Lisk and Bailey McGrew, while the young talent that remains leaves the door open for further success next season.
