Following a recent inspection from the Iowa Department of Inspections, Appeals, and Licensing, Parkview Manor of Wellman was cited for 24 state and federal regulatory violations.

According to the Iowa Capital Dispatch, violations included resident abuse, physical abuse of a resident by a worker, failure to adequately respond to a resident with dropping oxygen levels and failure to implement the facility’s infection control policies to ensure a staph bacterial infection was contained. One specific incident that was investigated involved a resident who sustained injuries from a fall, but was not taken to the hospital until they were found unresponsive the following morning. The resident later succumbed to her injuries.

A fine of more than $35,000 was proposed for Parkview Manor, however these fines are being suspended while decisions are made regarding federal penalties.
