The Hillcrest Academy Raven boys basketball team travels to Maquoketa Valley tonight for the second round of the Class 1A District tournament. Hillcrest comes into action with an overall record of 15-7 after a 65-24 first round win Monday against Lone Tree where Bryce Bailey put up 16 points, Seth Ours 14 and Rowan Miller 11. Mason Bender added 10 boards and Ours and Miller each had five assists. The Ravens were 10-5, third in the North Division of the Southeast Iowa Superconference this season. On the year, Hillcrest scores 56 points per game and gives up 44, shooting 45% from the field, 38% from three and 62% at the line with 25 boards, 16 assists, 10 steals and 13 turnovers per night. Individual leaders include Ours at 16 points per game, Bender with six boards per contest and Miller with five assists and two steals per night.

Maquoketa Valley is 18-4 this season, the Wildcats were 11-3, third in the Tri-Rivers West. They started the postseason with a 55-39 win over East Buchanan at home Monday, paced by Lane McShane with a 26 point 10 rebound double double, Kody Hoeger added 11 points. On the year, the ‘Cats average 59 points per game and give up 43, shooting 44% from the floor, 36% from three and 74% at the line with 29 boards, 13 assists, eight steals and 13 turnovers per game. Individually, McShane leads with 18 points, nine boards and two steals per game. Toby Grimm adds five assists. This is the first all-time meeting between the two schools. The winner advances to the Class 1A, District 8 Championship Game Tuesday. Action starts tonight at 7p.m. in Delhi.
