In the latest Fuel Report from the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship, gas prices are on the rise in most of the State. As of Wednesday, the price of regular, unleaded gasoline averaged $2.94 across Iowa. This is up 11 cents from last week, but still down 31 cents from last year. The national average rose 11 cents as well, currently priced at $3.26.
Retail diesel prices in Iowa rose 26 cents this week with a statewide average of $3.80. The current price is 28 cents lower than the national average of $4.08 and 34 cents lower than a year ago. Wholesale ethanol held steady at $2.16.
In heating fuels, propane prices remained at $1.59 per gallon statewide, while home heating oil prices rose 28 cents to $3.22 per gallon. Natural gas fell 36 cents and is currently priced at $1.61. For energy-saving tips on the road or at home, visit energy.gov and fueleconomy.gov.
