The Hillcrest Academy Raven boys basketball team wrapped up their season on the road Thursday, falling to the Maquoketa Valley Wildcats 59-46 in the District Semifinal round of the Class 1A tournament. Maquoketa Valley seized early home court momentum, racing out to a 17-8 lead at the end of one that would force Hillcrest to play catch-up the rest of the night. The Ravens trailed 38-27 at intermission. Hillcrest won the third quarter 12-9 and made a late push, cutting the lead to five on multiple occasions but were unable to complete the comeback.

The Wildcats were hot from the floor, shooting 51% as a team and 50% from three. They outrebounded the Ravens 24-16 and won the turnover battle 12-6. Lane McShane had a double double for the Wildcats with 17 points and 14 rebounds, Toby Grimm had 18 points for Maq Valley. Mason Bender led Hillcrest with 12 points, Kale Bailey added 11. Maquoketa Valley is now 19-4 and will play for the 1A District 8 Championship Tuesday against Dunkerton at Oelwein. Hillcrest ends their season at 15-8.
