Just days after the All State Festival for large group speech, 17 Mid-Prairie High School students competed at the River Valley Conference Individual Events Speech Contest on Monday. The Golden Hawks were at Anamosa High School for the competition, where they competed in 25 events.

Receiving a division 1 rating for Mid-Prairie were Haydon Bailey in Solo Musical Theatre and Solo Acting, Jacob Carrillo in Solo Improv, Jillian Clark in Solo Improv, Harlie Gehling in Radio News Announcing and Interpretive Poetry, River Gehling in Interpretive Prose, Jack Greiner in solo Musical Theatre and Solo Improv, Wren Harris in Interpretive Prose, Niah Leaton in Reviewing and After-Dinner Speaking, Logan McClellen in Storytelling and Solo Musical Theatre, Grace Puttman in Interpretive Poetry, Daniel Rodgers in Poetry and After-Dinner Speaking, Caroline Schrader in Solo Acting, and Rebecca Westfall and Samantha Wunderlich in Public Address.

Division 2 ratings went to Jacob Carrillo in Solo Acting, Tabitha Fisher in Interpretive Prose, Isadora Goode in Original Oratory and Expository Address, and Diego Sanchez in Reviewing. Mid-Prairie additionally earned five best-in-center awards, five second-place-in-center awards, and three third-place-in-center awards.

Division 1 recipients will perform this Saturday at the District Individual Events Contest at Mount Vernon High School.
