The 2024 Iowa High School Athletic Association Traditional State Tournament at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines wrapped up Saturday. Five area athletes finished on the podium this year. WACO’s Louden Huisenga and Columbus/Winfield-Mt. Union’s Russel Coil were both state runners-up at 190 lbs in Class 1A and 285 lbs in Class 2A, respectively. Washington’s Aaron Boone finished in fourth place at 132 lbs in Class 2A. WACO’s Gage Samo was sixth in 1A at 113 lbs. Highland’s Luke Gusman finished in seventh place at 120lbs in Class 1A.
