A successful FFA week at Mid-Prairie last week began with 17 chapter members participating in the Northwest FFA Sub-District Leadership Development Events. Performing in Oskaloosa, ten of the Golden Hawks qualified for the District Competition.

Brynn Younge was one such qualifier in Job Interview. Younge, who also received a gold rating, is interviewing to be a Show Barn Manager. Charlotte Sieren received a gold rating and is advancing to Districts in Extemporaneous Speaking. Peighton Ford’s Public Speaking piece, “Food Insecurity-A Global Problem” earned her a silver rating and a trip to Districts as an alternate. Additional qualifiers were the Parliamentary Procedures team of Tate Bombei, Ellie Callahan, Stella Janecek, Madelyn Sieren, and Allie Whetstine who received a silver rating, and the Welding team of Quinn Callahan and Dylan Humphrey who received a gold.

Mid-Prairie’s Conduct of Meetings team, which earned a silver rating included Myli Hershberger, Adelyn Huston, Caedyn Huston, Averi Janecek, Kinzlee Kiefer, Bo Pennington and Jason Yoder. Hershberger and Yoder also took the Greenhand Test, receiving a silver rating. Allie Whetstine, Ellie Callahan, and Madelyn Sieren took the Chapter Test, with a gold rating earned by Whetstine, and silver by Callahan and Sieren.

All qualifying Golden Hawks will attend the Southeast District FFA Contest at Louisa-Muscatine High School on Saturday, March 9.
