More than a dozen Golden Hawks competed last Saturday at the District Individual Events Speech Contest at Mount Vernon High School. Of the 27 events performed by Mid-Prairie, 24 will be advancing to State.
Earning a division 1 rating and a trip to the State Contest were Haydon Bailey in Solo Musical Theatre and Solo Acting, Jacob Carrillo in Solo Improvisation and Acting, Jillian Clark in Improv, Tabitha Fisher in Interpretive Prose, Harlie Gehling in Radio News Announcing and Interpretive Poetry, River Gehling in Interpretive Prose, Isadora Goode in Original Oratory, Jack Greiner in Musical Theatre and Improv, Wren Harris in Interpretive Prose, Faziia Kasymova in Storytelling, Niah Leaton in Reviewing and After-Dinner Speaking, Logan McClellen in Musical Theatre, Grace Puttmann in Interpretive Poetry, Daniel Rodgers in Poetry and After-Dinner Speaking, Diego Sanchez in Reviewing, Caroline Schrader in Acting, Rebecca Westfall in Public Address, and Samantha Wunderlich in Public Address.
Division 2 ratings went to Isadora Goode in Expository Address, Logan McClellen in Storytelling, and Lincoln Wulf in Radio News Announcing. Mid-Prairie Speech is coached by Christine Meader and Lisa Helmuth.
Qualifying Golden Hawks will now perform at the IHSSA State Individual Events Speech Contest at Xavier High School in Cedar Rapids on Saturday, March 9.
