An annual tradition at the University of Iowa, the 30th Dance Marathon was held at Iowa Memorial Union from February 2-3. Taking part this year were eight students within the KCII listening area.
Alecia Goff of Washington, Emily Schlabach of Kalona, Paige Stater of Mt. Pleasant, Zoe Bentler of Salem, Maisy Johnson of Winfield, Katelyn Adam of Batavia, and Tate Allen and Dominic Dupoux of Fairfield are current University of Iowa students who participated in this year’s event, which raised more than $1.45 million.
Dance Marathon is a 24-hour celebration that includes over 1,000 dancers, more than 180 leadership members, and over 1,300 families. The event is the culmination of students’ year-round dedication to the children and families receiving treatment from the Stead Family Children’s Hospital. In its 30th year, the University of Iowa Dance Marathon has raised more than $35 million dollars to join in the fight against pediatric cancer.
