Audiences are invited to the Winfield-Mt. Union spring production, beginning Friday. The performance, which can be seen tonight and tomorrow, is a one-of-a-kind event for a number of reasons.

For starters, the play itself, titled Mother Goose’s Storytelling Festival, was written by WMU Band/Choir Director Lindsey Pogmore. Cast member Brynn Pogmore explains the story to KCII. “The play is based on the fact that Mother Goose has a magic storytelling quill. So she decides she wants to host a festival for all of the stories in the land. Only after sending out invitations, the Wicked Witch does not receive one and so she does some “magicky” stuff and suddenly all of the fairy tales are swapped”.

To make the performance more unique, it will feature Winfield-Mt. Union students from third through twelfth grade with each cast member getting a speaking role. If that wasn’t enough, the entire audition and rehearsal process was done in one week.

WMU presents Mother Goose’s Storytelling Festival on Friday, March 1 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, March 2 at 6 p.m. Tickets are $5 at the door and kids younger than kindergarten-age are free.
