KCII News spoke with US Senator Chuck Grassley about his comments scrutinizing the issues plaguing the federal prison system. He explains some of the issues, “Some of it relates to sexual harassment of employess, some of it relates to intimate relationships between prisoners and employees, people in prison not being treated fairly, how do you get drugs into a prison where everybody is investigated very clearly before you go in there. Those are some of the things, now last week, we had a hearing and the head of the prison system was there and she answered questions from all of us that wanted to ask questions. I took advantage of asking some questions on these very subjects.”  The Department of Justice Inspector General’s annual report consistently points to the Bureau of Prisons as a primary challenge facing the department. The Government Accountability Office recently added BOP to its list of programs at high risk for waste, fraud and abuse.
