U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley spoke with KCII News about the bill that he introduced called the Inspector General Access Act. Grassley gives more information on the act, “The Inspector General of the Department of Justice, does not have authority in the Department of Justice of investigating lawyers that are on the Justice staff. Why should they be protected from making sure that they are doing their job properly? And so this bill is pretty darn simple, the Inspector General for the Department of Justice could investigate any wrongdoing he sees or is told about, even if those are lawyers within the Justice Department.” The bipartisan bill would close a loophole that precludes the Justice Department’s Office of the Inspector General from investigating alleged Department of Justice attorney misconduct.
