Three local boys track and field teams travel to Pella today for the Central College Dutch Indoor High School meet. The Hillcrest Academy Ravens opened the indoor season at the Iowa Association of Track Coaches State Championships last week in Ames where they finished 34th in Class 1A with three points. Sophomore Owen Scott had the best performance of the day at Iowa State last week, placing sixth in high jump at a height of 5’9″. Freshman Kale Bailey was 12th, clearing 5’7″.

This is the first action of the season for the Highland Huskies. They finished 14th at last year’s state qualifier as a team. The Huskies top individual returner is Jackson Schneider who finished eighth at that meet in the 110m hurdles.

This is also the first meet of the season for the WACO Boys. The Warriors were fourth last year at the 1A State qualifier on their home track. They sent seven events to the state meet last season, scoring 11 points. Returners from state events last year are Louden Huisenga in the high jump and shuttle hurdle relay and Clayton Miller in the 4×200.

These three teams will be joined today by ADM, Ames, Aplington-Parkersburg, BGM, Boone, CAM, Carlisle, Central Lee, Danville, Des Moines North, Dowling Catholic, English Valleys, Exira-EHK, I-35, City High, Keokuk, Knoxville, Marshalltown, Mount Pleasant, New London, Newton, Panorama, Pella, Perry, Van Buren, and West Burlington Notre Dame.
