The Iowa Workforce Development released its January unemployment data this week.
The State’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was three percent in the first month of the year, unchanged from the numbers in December and lower than the national rate of 3.7. One year ago, Iowa’s unemployment rate was 2.9 percent.
Johnson County saw the lowest rate of any in the KCII listening area at 2.6 percent. They were followed by Jefferson County at 3.2, Washington County at 3.4, Iowa County at 3.5, Henry County at 3.6, and both Keokuk and Louisa counties at 3.9.
While the number of unemployed Iowans decreased from December to January, so too did the number of working Iowans. The labor force participation rate also decreased slightly from 67.5 percent to 67.3 percent.
