The WACO Warriors are warming up to get a new season of track and field underway. The WACO boys will be leaning on the experience of returners like junior Louden Huisenga, who reached the Class 1A state meet in the high jump and was the runner-up in the event in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference.
Huisenga also ran on a shuttle-hurdles relay team that won a Super Conference championship for the Warriors and made it to state. Gage Samo returns to WACO looking for a repeat of his third-place finish in the conference in the 400-meter hurdles, while fellow junior Clayton Miller will join him in helping the Warriors potentially win more Super Conference hardware in relay races.
Senior Zoey Dennler returns for the WACO girls and will be eyeing back-to-back conference championships in the 400 hurdles, as is junior and fellow relay runner Elyssa Graber. The Warrior boys are tapped to start the outdoor track season this Thursday at the annual Steve Roth Relays in Washington.
