The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk girls and boys track and field teams wrap up in the indoor portion of their schedule tonight with a trip to the University of Dubuque for the River Valley Conference indoor championship meet. The Golden Hawk girls opened the season claiming a 2A State Title at the Iowa Association of Track Coaches Indoor State Championship meet in Ames last week. The Hawks scored 50 points. Highlights included an individual state title for Jovi Evans in the 200, along with a third place finish in the 60m dash. Greta Sieren was third in the 800 and sixth in the 400, Emma Lueck placed fourth in long jump. Behla Schmidt was fifth in the 60m hurdles. Abby Fleming was eighth in 3000 and Brooklyn Stutzman was ninth in the same event. In relay events, the team of Dakota Mitchell, Paige Safly, Lueck and Evans were state runners-up in the sprint medley, and third in the 4×100,  Annika Poll, Kendall Landstrum, Phoebe Shetler and Sieren were eighth in the 4×8.

The boys also ran at the state IATC meet last week, placing 13th in Class 2A with 17 points. Emmett Swartzentruber was State runner-up in the two mile, Burke Berry was fourth in shot put, Jayse Yoder was sixth in the 800 and Preston Yutzy eighth in the 3200.

The Hawks will be joined tonight in Dubuque by Anamosa, Iowa City Regina, Maquoketa, Monticello, Cascade, Bellevue, Northeast Goose Lake, Dyersville Beckman, Tipton, Camanche, Durant, Wilton, West Liberty and West Branch. Action starts at 4p.m. and continues into the evening on the campus of the University of Dubuque.
