The Washington County Board of Supervisors heard a presentation from the East Central Iowa Workforce Development Board at their Tuesday meeting. Executive Director Liz Rodriguez gave the presentation, “One of the things that we are required to do to continue to receive Department of Labor money, that benefits all seven counties in our corridor area, including Washington County, is that we are supposed to put together a plan, related to what we want to use this money for for workforce in the next three to four years. The plan has to be in alignment with the state, it’s called the Unified Plan at the state level, so we have to use their strategies and things like that and try to implement them locally in ways that meet our needs.”  Each local Workforce Development Board must, in partnership with the appropriate chief elected officials, develop and submit a comprehensive 4-year plan to the Governor, under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act. The plan must identify and describe the policies, procedures, and local activities that are carried out in the local area, consistent with the State Plan.
