Eleven members of the Mid-Prairie FFA Chapter traveled to Louisa-Muscatine High School on March 9 for the Southeast District Career Development Events and Convention.
Advancing to the State competition for the Golden Hawks was Peighton Ford along with Brynn Younge as an alternate. Ford prepared the Secretary’s Book with records of meeting minutes and chapter attendance, receiving a second place gold rating. Younge competed in the Job Interview contest where she received a gold rating as well.
The other gold rating for Mid-Prairie went to Sydney Knebel and Charlotte Sieren. The two prepared the Reporter’s Scrapbook which serves as a permanent record of the chapter’s history. Sieren also received a silver rating for Extemporaneous Speaking, as did the Parliamentary Procedure team of Tate Bombei, Ellie Callahan, Stella Janecek, Madelyn Sieren, and Allie Whetstine. The Welding team of Quinn Callahan and Dylan Humphrey received a bronze rating. Sydney Knebel and Brynn Northup also attended as chapter voting delegates.
In addition to Ford and Younge, Quinn Callahan, Sydney Knebel, and Charlotte Sieren will be attending the State Convention, as each of the five has earned the Iowa FFA Degree. The 96th State FFA Leadership Conference will be held from April 14-16 at Iowa State University in Ames.
