The Sigourney Savages and Keota Eagles took part in the annual South Iowa Cedar League Indoor Track & Field Championships, and a number of individual athletes and relay teams did well Monday at Grinnell College.
That includes Sigourney freshman Kia Montgomery, who was second in the girls’ 200-meter dash and third in the 400 meters. Junior Jayden Thompson was also a runner-up for the Savages in the boys’ shot put, with junior teammate Caden Clarahan finishing fourth.
Troy Klett had a pair of top finishes for Sigourney, taking third in the 800 meters and fourth in the 1,600. The Savage boys also earned fifth place in the 4-by-200-meter relay and were fourth in the distance medley, while the girls finished fourth in both the distance medley and the 4-by-400.
Keota’s best finish came from junior Izzi Chalupa, who was third in the long jump. Sophomore Olivia Lyle was fourth in that event, while freshman Ayden Galindo led the Eagle boys with a fifth-place finish in the high jump.
