A former Columbus Wildcats track and field star is finishing up a brilliant freshman season in college. Triston Miller helped Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa win the 2024 National Junior College Athletic Association’s indoor track national championship earlier this month, the first in school history.

Miller was an integral part of the Warriors’ success on his way to three All-American honors. Along with a sixth-place finish in the high jump and seventh-place medal in the 60-meter hurdles, Miller took third overall in the men’s heptathlon with 4,986 points, a new Indian Hills record.

Miller is coming off a senior season at Columbus where he won a state championship in the 11o-meter hurdles and also earned medals in the high jump and on two relay teams, helping the Wildcats finish second in Class 1A.
