A pair of local Southeast Iowa Superconference track and field teams take the oval in Wapello tonight for their next competition.

The Hillcrest Academy Raven boys and girls make the trip, looking to get their outdoor season started after weather canceled a meet in Columbus last week. The Ravens were last on the track at Central College in Pella to finish the indoor season. Owen Scott led the Hillcrest boys with a third place finish in high jump and long jump. Kale Bailey was seventh in high jump and Braden Hartsock also competed. For the Raven girls in Pella, Rya Scott was fifth in the 200 and 10th in the 60m. Marie Yoder went fifth in the 3000. Morgyn Nafziger, Niva Helmuth and Natalie Meganathan were also in action.

For Columbus track, the Wildcat boys were the Division C Champs at Thursday’s Steve Roth Relays at Case Field in Washington. The ‘Cats captured crowns in seven events including Kaden Amigon winning the 100m dash and long jump, Russell Coil winning discus and shot put, Alexander Rees taking the 110 hurdles, a win for the 4×100 team of Amigon, Lamar Ceant, Juan Chairez and Johnathan Miranda, and a victory for the shuttle hurdle team of Rees, Ceant, Miranda and Cade Storm. This will be the first outdoor event of the season for the Columbus girls, who ran at the Dickinson Relays at Northern Iowa earlier this month and were led by a top 30 finish for Isabel Rendon, Ariana Vergara and Naveiah and Iris Garza in the 4×800.

Joining these two teams tonight are Durant, Louisa-Muscatine, West Liberty, Wilton and the home Indians and Arrows. Action gets underway at 4p.m. and continues into the evening at the Wapello Athletic Complex.
