The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys golf team started the dual season Monday with a trip to Brown Deer Golf Course to take on the rival Iowa City Regina Regals. Regina got by the Hawks 174-178. Mid-Prairie was led by meet medalist Clayton Davidson who fired a round of 40. He spoke with KCII sports after the meet about his day. Davidson said, “The second hole here is a pretty long par five. I hit a good drive, I missed my second a little right but, I got up and down for birdie. (Being medalist) is a good feeling. It was pretty good for the team tonight, first meet of the year, not very good weather, we have the potential to go lower.”

Other scores for the Hawks included Denver Nelson with 45, Drew Schlabaugh 46, Bryce Henry and Grayson Gingerich 47 and Ace Peck 53. Regina was led by medalist runner-up Noah Clark’s 41.

The Golden Hawk boys are 0-1 on the season and back in action Monday at West Branch.
