At their meeting on Monday, March 25, the Keota School Board voted to approve the four-day school week for the 2024-25 school year.
The decision comes after months of collecting data and feedback from community members and other stakeholders. The Keota Community School District now joins Highland and Winfield-Mt. Union in the KCII listening area to adopt the four-day schedule. WACO has used the four-day model for about a decade, while Lone Tree Schools voted down the idea earlier this year.
Columbus CSD continues to weigh the pros and cons of a four-day school week, and are expected to make a decision soon. A final public forum will be held today from 6-7:30 p.m. in the Columbus Board Office, and a parent survey will be sent home with students on Thursday, March 28.
