The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys soccer team takes the pitch in Wellman tonight for the first time in the new season when they welcome the Williamsburg Raiders for their home opener. The Hawks are 1-0 this year after a 2-1 win at Highland on Tuesday, where Daniel Rodgers and Joe Hall had the goals, Tucker Miller and Peyton Fox had assists and Jacob Flynn recorded the win in goal with five saves on six shots.

Williamsburg is also 1-0 entering the night, following a 3-2 win at home against Fort Madison Tuesday. The Raiders were 13-4 a season ago, 7-2 champions of the WAMAC West Division. They return their leading scorer and assister Mason Eggleston with his 25 goals and 12 helpers during his sophomore season. Logan Rethwisch is also back in goal after 1300 minutes there a year ago with 112 saves and just 13 goals allowed, working out to a 90% save percentage. The Raiders beat the Hawks at Bob Murphy Stadium in 2023, 6-1. Action starts tonight at the Wellman Rotary Soccer Fields at 5p.m.
