The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk girls soccer team opened the season with a 6-0 loss at Solon on Thursday. The Lady Spartans struck for a pair of first half goals to take a 2-0 lead into break. In the second stanza, Solon piled on with four more tallies to put the game out of reach. Golden Hawk goalkeeper Niva Helmuth set a school record with 31 saves. Zoey Curtiss had one shot on goal. Solon is now 2-0 on the season and meets Mount Vernon Tuesday. With the loss, Mid-Prairie is now 0-1 on the season and travels to West Liberty Monday.
