Blake Peck of the Golden Hawk Archery Club at Mid-Prairie received a major scholarship award this month. Peck, a senior archer at Mid-Prairie was named one of three winners of the 2024 Haney Family Foundation Senior Scholarship through the National Archery in the Schools Program and Iowa Department of Natural Resources. He qualified for state in Des Moines this season in both the Bullseye and 3D competitions. He receives $1,000 to attend the school of his choice next year.
This scholarship was designed by the National Archery in the Schools Program and the Iowa DNR to provide additional opportunities to students who enjoy the sport. Winners must apply, submit references, be an Iowa resident, a current senior, and attend a two-year or four-year college or technical training institute. The scholarships were awarded at a ceremony during the State Tournament on the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines this March. Peck was recognized along with Kassie Rummel of Solon and Natalie Baustian of Cedar Rapids Prairie.
