The Mid-Prairie boys and girls golf teams are gearing up for a pair of Monday River Valley Conference duals with the West Branch Bears. The Golden Hawk girls are 1-0 on the season after beating Iowa City Regina in their opener a week ago, firing a 189 team score and sweeping the medals with Gabi Robertson earning medalist honors with a 42 and Madi Davidson medalist runner-up at 45. Other scores included Addison English 49, Elliot Debler 53, Olivia Swartzentruber 55 and Madison Witthoft 61. The West Branch girls edged West Liberty in their opener 219-221. Claire Jarrett led the way with a 44, followed by Julia Herring 56, McKenna Worrell 59, Olivia Thomas 60, Adelyn Hetrick 61 and Joelle Haas 83. The Bears were the only team to beat the RVC tournament champion Hawks in a conference match last year, winning a triangular over Mid-Prairie and Wilton Beavers 191-206-228 respectively. Alex Poppen led the Bears that day with a 43, while English led the Hawks with a 48. The Hawks were also head to head winners over the Bears 202-209 last season with Jarrett and Robertson tying for meet medalist for the two teams with 48s.

The Golden Hawk boys come into the night 0-1 after dropping a tough opener at Iowa City Regina last week, 174-178, despite a meet medalist day for Clayton Davidson with a 40. Other scores for the Hawks included Denver Nelson 45, Drew Schlabaugh 46, Grayson Gingerich and Bryce Henry 47s and Ace Peck 53. West Branch dropped an RVC battle to West Liberty last week 165-170. The Bears were led by Paxton Tisinger at 40. Other scores included Cameron Gingerich and Reece Druecker with 43s, Sawyer Jeffries 44 and Reese Gingerich 47. Mid-Prairie got by the Bears last year 177-185 in their head to head matchup, led by a medalist day for Bryce Henry with a 42.

Action for the boys at West Branch and the girls in Kalona gets underway tonight at 4p.m. and continues through Monday evening.
