A trio of KCII area schools send their boys and girls track and field teams to Mediapolis tonight for their next meet. Hillcrest Academy is looking to get their outdoor season underway. They have been off since the Central College meet March 16th that finished their indoor season. In Pella, the Ravens were led by Owen Scott with a third place finish in high jump and long jump. Kale Bailey was seventh in high jump and Braden Hartsock also competed. For the Raven girls, Rya Scott was fifth in the 200 and 10th in the 60m. Marie Yoder went fifth in the 3000. Morgyn Nafziger, Niva Helmuth and Natalie Meganathan were also in action.
The Highland Huskies will be on the track at MEPO tonight. The Highland boys ran last at the Steve Roth Relays at Case Field in Washington two weeks ago where Cayden Day led the way taking eighth in the 200. The Highland girls were just at Mediapolis last week where the top finishes included Makenzie Davis going third in the 400, Hailey Brun fifth in the 100 and in relays a third place finish for the 4×2 and fifth for the 4×1.
The Winfield-Mt. Union boys last competed at the West Burlington Falcon Relays a week ago where Cooper Buffington was runner-up in the 100 and long jump, and third in the discus and shot put, William Cupps took third in the 800, Jake Edwards was fourth in high jump, and August Gieselman was seventh in the 400. The 4×800 went eighth and the distance medley ninth. This is the first event of the year for the Winfield-Mt. Union girls. They return Josie Nelson from their state qualifying shuttle hurdle group.
Also joining these teams today are Danville, Louisa-Muscatine, Wapello, Warsaw, West Burlington Notre Dame and the home Bulldogs and Bullettes. Action starts tonight at 4:30 at Mediapolis High School.
