One of the best basketball players in the area represented the Keota Eagles on the court one more time. Sawyer Stout played for the Southeast boys’ team at this year’s Pizza Ranch All-Star Games in Grimes.
Stout scored four points for the Southeast, all coming in the first game of two that the team played, an 87-83 loss to the Northeast team. The Southeast also lost to the Northwest squad 132-105.
Stout was selected to the Southeast All-Star team by the Iowa Basketball Coaches Association after a brilliant senior season at Keota. In addition to becoming the Eagles’ all-time leading scorer, Stout averaged over 21 points per game on his way to second-team all-state honors. Keota started this past season 23-0 and reached as high as the number-five ranking in Class 1A before falling to Gladbrook-Reinback in the 1A District 11 finals.
