The Sigourney Savages got the new golf season going Thursday by playing in a quadrangular hosted by BGM at Brooklyn-Victor Country Club. The Sigourney boys had a strong day with a team score of 167 strokes but ended up six strokes shy of BGM’s winning team total.
Sophomore Solon Yates led the Savages by shooting a two-over-par 38 and finished tied for second overall. Cain Weber was tied for fifth by finishing with a five-over 41, while fellow junior Issac Bruns fired a 44 and senior Brock Alderson shot 45. Sophomore Josh Wyatt’s 46 and freshman Ike Molyneux’ 48 rounded out the scoring for the Sigourney boys.
The Savage girls also came up just short of winning with a team score of 262, only four strokes away from winning BGM. Senior Emma Hames and junior Hannah Hanselman each shot 64 to lead Sigourney and were tied for fourth overall. Both Savage teams will next play Tuesday against HLV, while the boys will have a quad at Keota before that Monday.
