Tuesday, the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys golf team entertains teams from around southeast Iowa at their annual 18-hole Golden Hawk Invitational. Mid-Prairie is 1-1 this season, scoring their first win of the year Monday over Tipton 166-182 behind a pair of 40s from Bryce Henry and Clayton Davidson to earn medalist and medalist runner-up honors respectively. On the young year, the Hawks have a 172 team average per nine holes, led by Davidson at an even 40.
The Highland Huskies are one of the teams on the course today in Kalona. The Huskies opened the year Monday with a win at Blue Top Ridge in Riverside over the WACO Warriors. Last year, Highland shot a 219 average per nine holes and 438 per 18. Leading returner is William Dunbar with his 58 average per nine holes and 119 average per 18.
Other teams that will attend include Durant, Louisa-Muscatine, Mount Vernon, West Branch, West Liberty and Wilton. Action starts at 12:30 and continues through the afternoon and evening in Kalona.
