The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys and girls soccer teams hit the road Tuesday for a pair of River Valley Conference matches at Monticello. The Mid-Prairie boys are 2-2 this season, topping Columbus 3-1 in their last action behind Beau Flynn’s first career hat trick. The Hawks have outscored the opposition in total 5-4. Beau Flynn has the team lead with those three goals, followed by Joe Hall and Daniel Rodgers with one each. Tucker Miller and Peyton Fox each have an assist. In goal, Hall and Jacob Flynn have split the 320 minutes with an 84% save percentage. The Monticello boys start the week 0-1 after a 10-0 loss at Western Dubuque Thursday. Mid-Prairie is 10-0 all-time in this series, including a 6-1 victory last season where Jesse Stultz, Tucker Miller, Joe Hall, and Daniel Rodgers all scored and Jacob Flynn recorded the win in goal with three saves.

The Mid-Prairie girls are 2-1 this year after a penalty kick shoot out win over Columbus Friday where Elise Gingerich scored a regulation goal and Lydia Beachy, Evangeline Marner, Emily Curtiss and Kyla Karnes cashed in their PKs with Karnes earning the win in goal. On the year, the Hawks have been outscored 8-3. Gingerich has all three Golden Hawk regulation goals and Curtiss has two assists. Mid-Prairie has made 60 saves this season, sixth most in Class 1A, with Niva Helmuth’s 39, eighth most in the state. The Monticello girls were winless in 13 matches a season ago, outscored 109-1. They lost four seniors from last year’s team including Isabella Mullen who scored the Panthers lone goal. Goalkeeper Sam Ruchti returns after a freshman season with 249 saves and a 72% save percentage. The Hawks beat the Panthers last season 10-0 with Zoey Curtiss scored twice, Emily Curtiss once and Niva Helmuth once, on assists from Meadow Flynn and Lydia Beachy with Helmuth recording a clean sheet in goal.

The girls match gets underway at 5p.m. tonight with the boys to follow at Dean Nelson Field in Monticello.
