The Winfield-Mount Union Wolves were able to win both matchups with Wapello on the golf course yesterday. It was by a slim margin, but the WMU boys’ team score of 180 strokes would be three better than Wapello at Twin Lakes Golf Course in Winfield.
Two Wolves tied the Indians’ Zach Harbison for meet medalist honors, as junior Sinjin Brown and sophomore Konner Kinneberg each finished with a six-over-par round of 42.
Senior Carter Loyd shot a nine-over 45 for Winfield-Mount Union, while freshman Justin Knipfer fired a 48 and sophomores Max Edwards and Nick Sparrow each finished with 55 for the Wolves.
The WMU girls posted a team score of 250 and finished over 50 strokes clear of Wapello. Senior Lily Freeman was the meet medalist and paced the Wolves with a 56, while sophomore Kaelyn Townsley was only three strokes behind her.
