The Highland Huskies scored a huge soccer victory on the road Monday against the Columbus Wildcats. Junior Louis Horak scored the goal that allowed Highland to take the match to halftime tied at 1, then freshman Jose Ramirez and junior Logan McFarland added tallies in the second half to help the Huskies topple Columbus 3-2.

After an 0-2 start to the season, Highland has bounced back with back-to-back wins to start play inside the Southeast Iowa Super Conference. The Huskies will go for three in a row when they step outside conference action Friday to face Sigourney-Keota.

The WACO Warriors were also able to earn a victory over a Super Conference foe Monday. A second-half strike from sophomore Tristan Luitjens would be all WACO needed for a 1-0 win over Danville.

Fellow sophomore Nick West had the assist as the Warriors improve to 2-1 in league play and 2-2 overall. WACO is set to next play tomorrow at home against Wapello.

Meanwhile, in addition to the loss to Highland, Columbus fell to Danville last night 4-0. The Wildcats are still winless early this season as they prepare to travel to Mediapolis tomorrow.
