The Highland Huskies defeated the WACO Warriors in Southeast Iowa Super Conference golf Monday. The Highland boys finished with a team score of 231 strokes, 49 better than WACO, and while there was no team competition with the Warriors, the Huskies still had a strong day with a girls’ team score of 209.
Highland had both of the meet medalists, as Colten Sypherd had the best boys’ score with an eight-over-par round of 44, while fellow junior Danika Kraus was tops for the girls by shooting 48.
Junior Adeline Krotz also had a 51 for the Husky ladies, with sophomore teammate Adisyn Prottsman finished with 53. Highland senior Kelsi Cerny fired a 57 and sophomore Emersyn Schultz posted a 59.
The Husky boys also got a round of 55 from junior Will Dunbar. Freshman Malachi Rinner led the WACO boys with a 54, while the top score for the Warrior girls belonged to sophomore Morgan Meyer with a 64.
The Columbus Wildcats were also in action against a Super Conference opponent. The Columbus boys defeated Louisa-Muscatine, using an even team score of 200 to finish nearly 60 strokes ahead of the Falcons.
Cael Phillips paced the Wildcats by shooting a seven-over 43, while fellow senior Cole Storm finished with 48. Juniors Ryan Coil and Payton White shot 50 and 59, respectively. Despite losing to Louisa-Muscatine, the Columbus girls were led by Kinlee Brown’s 50, while fellow sophomore Hailey Wellington had 54.
