After completing its 30th home in January, Henry County Habitat for Humanity is already gearing up for its next project, a three-bedroom, two-bath home in Mount Pleasant.
Now that the site at 400 East Henry Street has been prepped, thanks to Robert Smith Construction and McCoy Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling, it will be volunteers taking the wheel from here. Despite such a grand undertaking, Henry County Habitat for Humanity takes volunteers of all abilities. President, Lisa Diener explains, “We take skilled or unskilled. We will just buddy them up with a skilled person. If they’re not comfortable with actually building the home, they can do other things. They can help clear the workspace, we can have them deliver water to the workers. There’s a variety of things they can do.” All volunteers must be 16 years or older and are required to sign a waver.
The 31st home from Henry County Habitat for Humanity will be built on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. weather permitting. To get involved in the build, or for more information, call 319-931-0656.
