The WACO Warriors picked up a convincing conference soccer victory last night, rolling past Wapello 8-0 at home. WACO more than doubled their 3-0 halftime lead thanks to hat tricks from junior Keiran Luitjens and sophomore Nick West.
Sophomore Tristan Luitjens and freshman Kale Zwer also scored as back-to-back wins have the Warriors at 3-1 in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference and 3-2 overall.
WACO will next play Monday at Columbus. The Wildcats suffered a pair of losses on the pitch last night in Mediapolis. The Columbus/Winfield-Mount Union girls trailed 4-0 at halftime and would ultimately fall 6-1, with senior Lecet Quiroz getting the ‘Cats only goal in the late stages.
The loss drops the Wildcats to 1-1 in the Super Conference and 1-3 overall. Meanwhile, the Columbus boys lost 8-0 to the Bulldogs, meaning they are still winless through five games this season.
