David Lord, a senior from Washington High School, has been named Washington County Regional Center’s “Outstanding Student of the Year.” David was selected by Kirkwood staff based on exceptional academic performance, completion of at least half of his coursework toward a degree, and his qualities of character and leadership. On April 19,  Lord and his parents will be attending the Outstanding Student Reception hosted by Kirkwood Academic Affairs in Cedar Rapids. David started taking College Credit in High School (CCHS) courses as a sophomore in high school. He will be graduating high school with 52 free college credits, with a tuition savings of $10,920. David will attend Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids to finish his AA degree and a second degree with a focus on Computer Science. After earning degrees at Kirkwood, he plans to transfer to University of Northern Iowa to earn a Bachelors in Computer Science and/or Business.
