It’s a River Valley Conference road trip Monday night for the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys and girls soccer teams when they visit the West Branch Bears. The Golden Hawk girls come into the match with a 4-2 record after dropping an 8-0 decision to Dyersville-Beckman Friday in Wellman. On the season, Mid-Prairie has been outscored by their opponents 17-11 in total. The Hawks have 76 total shots, 40 on goal with six assists and 95 saves with an 85% save percentage. Individually, Mid-Prairie is led by Elise Gingerich with six goals. She is tied with Zoey Curtiss for the team lead with a pair of assists. In goal, Niva Helmuth has made 86 saves, fourth most in Class 1A, with an 83% save percentage.

The West Branch girls are 0-1 this season, with their first match a 4-2 Friday loss to Central Lee. In the losing effort, the Bears had 11 shots, two on goal and made 16 team saves. Grace Hamann and Kylie Pickett each had goals for the Bears, Melayna Burmeister had an assist and in goal, Jenie Gomez made 14 saves. The Hawks are 4-0 all-time against the Bears including a 6-0 win in Wellman a season ago where Elise Gingerich scored twice, Zoey Curtiss once and Gingerich and Lydia Beachy each had an assist with Niva Helmuth combining on a clean sheet in goal.

The Golden Hawk boys are 4-3 after a 4-0 Friday loss to Beckman in Wellman. This season, they have outscored their opponents 11-9 in total with 114 shots, 45 on goal with eight assists and 45 saves and a 90% save percentage defensively. Individually, Beau Flynn has the team lead with three goals, Adrian Sanchez and Sawyer Hough each have two assists and in goal, Joe Hall has 27 saves and a 96% save percentage, best in Class 1A, for those who have made at least 20 saves.

The West Branch boys are 4-0 this season, beating Cascade 3-1 on Friday, with Christian Scire scoring two goals, Elliot Hinkhouse the other, Trenton Schutte with an assist and Shae Farmer three saves in goal. The Bears have outscored their opponents 16-2 this season with 128 shots, 60 on goal, 15 assists and 19 saves with an 86% save percentage. Individually they are led by Hamann with six goals, Scire, Schutte and Reese Gingerich with three assists and Farmer in goal with 19 saves and an 86% save percentage. West Branch is 4-0 all-time against Mid-Prairie including a 4-1 win last season where Hamann scored twice and Farmer had six saves in the win.

The girls contest will start at 5p.m. with the boys to follow tonight in West Branch.
