It was a River Valley Conference split Monday night at the Little Rose Bowl in West Branch for the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys and girls soccer teams. The Golden Hawk girls beat the Bears on their home field by a 4-1 score. Mid-Prairie led 2-0 at the break on a pair of Elise Gingerich goals, her seventh and eighth of the year. Gingerich finished off the natural hat trick after half time, the first hat trick of her career, to make it 3-0 and Lydia Beachy added another insurance goal, her third strike of the season to make it 4-0 late. The Bears got on the board with a goal in the final minute of the match. After the win, the Golden Hawk goal scorers, Gingerich and Beachy, spoke with KCII Sports about getting the offense going Monday.

The Golden Hawks had 18 shots, eight on goal with four corner kicks as a team. Brookyn Schneider got her first assist of the year. Ruth Whitthoft earned the win in goal, making 15 saves. Mid-Prairie has won four of their last five to improve to 5-2 while the Bears fall to 0-2.
In the nightcap the Golden Hawk boys were beaten 3-0. The defenses controlled the first half, sending Mid-Prairie and West Branch to intermission scoreless. The Bears regrouped at the break and scored three times in the first 15 minutes of the second stanza to get the win. The Hawks had three total shots, two on goal, one each from Tucker Miller and Daniel Rodgers. Joe Hall had eight saves in goal for Mid-prairie who falls to 4-4. West Branch is 4-0.
The Golden Hawk boys and girls are both back in action Friday when they host Anamosa.
