The Washington Demon and Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys and girls track and field teams traveled to Williamsburg Monday for a makeup for the Raider Relays at Bob Murphy Stadium.

The Golden Hawk girls had the top area team finish placing fifth of 17 schools with 63.5 points. Maquoketa won the meet with 95. Top Mid-Prairie finishes included Emma Lueck second in long jump at 16’8″, Danielle Hostetler second in the 3000 at 11:14.93, and Abby Fleming second in the 1500 at 5:11.92. Other standout events included Fleming third in the 3000, third for the shuttle hurdle team of Sophie Miller, Olivia Schlabach, Nora Pennington and Behla Schmidt, Paige Safly fourth in high jump, fourth for Schmidt in the 100 hurdles, fifth for Phoebe Shetler in the 1500, and fifth for the 4×100 team of Dakota Mitchell, Myli Hershberger, Lueck and Safly.

The Washington girls were seventh in the team field with 53 points. Iris Dahl had an individual Demon championship, winning the 800 in 2:23.69. Other Demon top fives included runner-up for the 4×800 team of Lauren Horak, Kendall Hinrichsen, Abigail Kleese and Dahl, third for the 4×4 with Leighton Messinger, Kleese, Jaedyn Moore and Dahl, fourth for the shuttle hurdle with Ryen Pepper, Leighton Salazar, Hinrichsen and Messinger, fourth for the 4×100 team of Ada Kendall, Messinger, Salazar and Moore, fifth for Messinger in the 100 hurdles, and fifth for Kleese in the 800.

The Washington boys were sixth of 16 teams with 46 points. Cedar Rapids Prairie won the meet with 145 points. Josh Anderson was the wheelchair shot put winner throwing 13’1″, 100 wheelchair winner in 20.56 seconds, 200 wheelchair winner in 38.69 seconds, and 400 wheelchair winner in 1:15.17. Other top performances for the Demons included third for the sprint medley with Keider Gomez-Valdez, Kael Williams, Jayfred Espinosa and Alec Ulin in 1:37.95,  fourth for the distance medley with Gomez-Valdez, Espinosa, Ulin and Tyler Alderton, fifth for the 4×800 with Alderton, Logan McDole, Sawyer Tschantz and Kael Malichky, and fifth for the 4×100 of Gomez-Valdez, Williams, Espinosa and Ulin,

The Mid-Prairie boys were 14th with 12 points. High marks for the Hawks included Josh Turner fourth in high jump at 5’10”, and Landon Sullivan fourth in long jump at 20′ 4 1/2″.

Later this week, the Demon girls will host their home relays at Case Field Thursday, while the boys are next in action Monday at Burlington. The Mid-Prairie girls host their home relays Thursday at Dwight G. Sattler Field in Wellman, while the boys travel to Eddyville-Blakesburg Thursday.
