On Monday, the Kalona City Council met to take action on the budget for Fiscal Year 2024-25.

No one was present to speak at the public hearing, but City Administrator, Ryan Schlabaugh, spoke briefly about the budget, which includes a property tax levy of $10.37 per $1,000 valuation. “We would have a levy rate that is essentially identical to last budget year, but due to rollback, taxpayers would see a reduced millage for what their taxes would be on any property in Kalona. Our recommendation is to approve the budget as presented.”
