Heritage Oaks near Wapello played host to the Wapello Invitational Wednesday, showcasing some of the best on the high school links in southeast Iowa. In the boys tournament, Winfield-Mt. Union took home the team trophy with their score of 348. The Wolves were led by medalist runner-up for the day Carter Loyd and his round of 83. Other WMU scores included Justin Knipfer third overall at 86, Konner Kinneberg with an 89 in fifth overall, Cody Milks with a 90 for seventh place on the day, Max Edwards with a 91 for eighth place in the tournament and Sinjin Brown with a 94.
Hillcrest Academy was team runner-up with their score of 357, led by meet medalist Rowan Miller with a 75. Other Ravens included Seth Ours fourth overall with 88, Liam Schrock sixth individually at 90, Matthew Chalupa 104, Lawson Schrock 114 and Ethan Yoder 117.
Columbus finished fourth with a team score 416. Top ‘Cat was Ryan Coil with a 99 for 16th individually. Other Columbus cards included Cael Phillips 100, Cole Storm 106, Kason Dopler 111, Mason Heck 114 and Payton White 121.
Highland did not post a team score. They were led individually by Colten Sypherd with a 111 for 23rd. Isaac Giesmann finished with a 126.
The girls team championship went to the Highland Huskies with their score of 400, beating second place Louisa-Muscatine’s 423. Best card for the day for Highland came from Danika Kraus with a 96 to finish as medalist runner-up. Other scores for the Huskies included Adisyn Prottsman and Adeline Krotz with matching 99s to finish third and fourth overall respectively, 106 for Kesli Cerny in eighth overall, 107 for Emersyn Schultz in ninth and 116 for Haley Sands.
The Columbus girls were third in the team race with their score of 476. Hailey Wellington led the Columbus scoring with a 109 in 10th place overall. Other Wildcat cards included Kinlee Brown 114, Aracely Garza 115, Jocelyn Hernandez 138, Madeline Howell 139 and Madelyn Payne 141.
Winfield-Mt. Union was fourth of six schools with a score of 515. Leader for the Wolves was Lily Freeman in seventh with a 105. Other WMU scores included Afton Wilkerson 121, Ella Kann 141 and Brynn Pogmore 148.
Hillcrest Academy was sixth with a 585. Top Raven round was a 134 for Claire Withrow to finish 21st individually. Other Hillcrest scores included Brynna O’Rourke 142, Ava Miller 152, Natalie Meganathan 157, Maria Portillo 163 and Izzy Frederickson 178.
